7 Haikus
A Haiku is a Japanese poetic form that consists of three lines, typically with the syllable structure of 5-7-5. Composing with Haikus inspired me to focus on creativity, variety, and character since the texts are short and digestible. I even drafted some of the movements on smaller paper just to limit myself to a specific idea, musical gesture, or musical style for each movement. Since the fourth text in this set is written by Artificial Intelligence, the movement is composed in a way where the musicians stop and start due to their expected laughter.
