Laughing Circle

The opening violin cadenza introduces a few musical motifs, like little giggles, which then expands and intensifies through a dialogue between the three instruments and cadenzas for the other two instruments. The title Laughing Circle represents a circle of people laughing together, but also the life cycle of a laugh from the casual ha-ha to the belly laugh and foot stomping, to the sighing when it’s dying down, and finally to the fatigue once it’s over.
