“A Childhood Revelation” reflects the journey of childhood. An innocent English Horn melody illustrates very early memories. A fanfare-like section recalls a milestone, perhaps learning how to walk or speak. A muted trumpet solo and low brass create a sensation of nervousness to symbolize a “bump in the road.” Now, in a delicate and playful style, the child grows past that obstacle. Suddenly, brass and percussion introduce a more heroic and energetic feel as this child is becoming more confident and remembers every experience as a life-lesson. Soaring woodwinds and imperial brass convey conquering fears, learning from mistakes, and optimism. Looking back on life, the mature child has a lifetime full of opportunities and possibilities, achieving the revelation.
