Who I Am
Juilliard meets Broadway
Louis Josephson is an award-winning, Juilliard-trained Musical Theater Composer and Lyricist. At age 22, when his musical, Relapse: A New Musical, premiered Off-Broadway, he was honored to receive the following review from Gregory Fletcher: “His composing is every bit as exciting as Jonathan Larson’s work… I anticipate great things to come for Mr. Josephson.” His music has reached more than 3 million views across social media platforms. Through his music, he strives to uplift people, share honest experiences, and bring a little humor and joy to those who listen. As a theater composer, his musical Relapse: A New Musical (music/orchestrations) ran Off-Broadway at Theater Row in Fall 2023 produced by Happy Recap Productions. Butterfly Productions' Dolhinov (music/orchestrations) is currently in development. It's Never Too Late, with book and lyrics by, and produced by Lou DiPietro premiered at Kelsey Theater in 2025. Outside of the theatrical space, his film score, Ravel, commissioned by The Juilliard School Drama Division, with award-winning director and filmmaker Harris Doran, premiered at the Lincoln Center Film Society in May 2025 and was nominated "Best of the Fest" by the DC Shorts International Film Festival. Nobody Needs to Know, which he wrote the score for, written and produced by Rachel Rosenstein, was chosen as an "Official Selection" for the Chelsea Film Festival. As a concert music composer, his music has been performed and recorded by esteemed ensembles, including The Juilliard Orchestra and The United States Air Force Band , Sylvan Winds, Sirius Quartet, and The All-National Honors Concert Band. His music has been featured in various festivals including SoundBites, Tribeca New Music, Juilliard ChoreoComp, Jersey Fringe, the National Association of Music Educators, MakeMusic, and the Association of Concert Bands. He is a composer in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Advanced Workshop, where he meets and collaborates with talented young lyricists. When not composing, Louis can be found conducting/music directing, teaching piano, playing piano and harmonica, and singing at renowned venues around Manhattan.
